Two New Restaurants Join Twin Cities Originals

McCoys and Laredo’s support preservation of local dining in the Twin Cities

Minneapolis (Aug. 14, 2009) – In an age where chain restaurants are found on every corner, it’s important for independent establishments to band together to encourage local dining. Laredo’s Tex-West Grill and McCoy’s Public House, both located in the Excelsior & Grand Development in St. Louis Park, Minn., have joined Twin Cities Originals (TCO) to accomplish this goal.

“In Minnesota, chain restaurants now outnumber local, independently owned dining establishments,” said Charlie Theros, president of TCO. “TCO provides a network for members to share ideas, collectively promote member restaurants, preserve local dining and ultimately grow the local economy. We’re excited to have Laredo’s and McCoys on board to help.”

Both restaurants are owned by WKC Restaurants, but offer uniquely different food and dining experiences. Laredo's features unique "Tex-West" cuisine as well as authentic Mexican dishes in a fun, energetic environment appropriate for all ages. Also family friendly, McCoys is best known for its classic American comfort food.

Patrons of Laredo’s and McCoys now enjoy the satisfaction of preserving the local dining environment in the Twin Cities, and can take advantage of TCO’s new rewards program. For more information about TCO and participating restaurants, please visit www.tcoriginals.com

About Twin Cities Originals

Twin Cities Originals (TCO) was formed in 2002 by a group of local, independently owned restaurants in response to the growing number of chain restaurants. The organization fosters an environment in which independent Twin Cities’ dining establishments can grow and flourish. In 2001, the number of chain restaurants grew to outnumber independently owned restaurants and continues to threaten the local dining environment. Though all members of TCO are competitors, more than 20 restaurants have come together to preserve the true spirit of original Twin Cities dining.
