Risdall Marketing Group Earns Upper Midwest Emmy Nomination
“Fire on Ice” video for World Ice
Racing Circuit nominee in “Advanced Media Sports” category
NEW BRIGHTON, MINN. (Sept. 4, 2009) – A fiery video created by
Risdall Marketing Group to reintroduce the extreme winter sport of ice
racing now is in the final heat of a Midwestern video competition.
“Fire on Ice,” a video produced by Risdall Marketing
Group for the World Ice Racing Circuit, is up for an Emmy Award against
three other nominees in the “Advanced Media Sports” category of the
competition by the Upper
Midwest chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts &
Sciences.
“The ‘Fire on Ice’ video really captures the excitement, energy
and thrill of ice racing,” said John Risdall, vice chairman and CEO of
Risdall Marketing Group. “We’re proud to showcase this amazing sport
because ice racing is breathtaking – the ice boats truly move like fire
on ice.”
While ice racing as a sport has been around for more than 100
years, the World Ice Racing Circuit Risdall North American Tour brought
ice racing to a closed-course oval track earlier this year as part of
the St. Paul Winter Carnival. Ice racing involves “sailing” across the
ice in ice boats outfitted with steel blades at speeds of up to 60 miles
per hour. The high-performance 12-foot-long DN class ice boats are
sailed like a boat on water, but trickier to handle when it comes to
turning and stopping because of the speed and lack of friction of the
steel blades on ice.
Emmy winners will be announced at an awards gala Sept. 26 at the
Pantages Theatre in Minneapolis.
