"Best Media Kit" Goes to Risdall McKinney Second Year in a Row at 2009 Classics Awards

NEW BRIGHTON, MINN. (April 1, 2009) – The Minnesota chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) has recognized Risdall McKinney Public Relations (RMPR), Evergreen Exhibitions and the Minnesota History Center with a PRSA Classics Award for "Best Media Kit (Events)" at the 31st Annual Classics Awards banquet on March 26. This is the second year in a row that RMPR took home the award for "Best Media Kit."

To gain visibility throughout the Midwest for Vatican Splendors and contribute to the ticket sales for the St. Paul arm of the three-city North American tour, RMPR developed a CD media kit and helped coordinate three press events.

"Vatican Splendors was a once-in-a-lifetime exhibit for Minnesota's residents and the Minnesota History Center," said Joel Swanson, APR, senior vice president of Risdall McKinney Public Relations. "Working with Evergreen Exhibitions and the Minnesota History Center's PR teams, RMPR created a visually stimulating, yet informational media kit that resonated with reporters, producers and editors."

Distributed to regional media prior to the first of three press events, the media kit showcased the priceless art and artifacts and gave media background on the exhibition, objects and spokespeople. As a result of the distribution of the media kit and three press events, spokespeople were booked solid with interviews through the grand opening week. The St. Paul Pioneer Press featured the exhibit as its cover story – taking up nearly the entire front page with full-color photos and a review. And, within the first month, the exhibit accomplished 37 percent of its 15-week goal. At the close of the exhibit, The Minnesota History Center saw more than 106,000 visitors pass through the site – making it its most visited exhibit ever.

"Vatican Splendors was one of the most well-attended and talked about exhibits at the Minnesota History Center," said Dan Spock, Director of the Minnesota History Center Museum,. "Risdall McKinney worked with our Marketing Department to develop a stunning media kit and helped coordinate three outstanding media events that drew attention to this exhibit from around the region."

In addition to winning the award for "Best Media Kit (Events)", RMPR was nominated for three other Classics Awards.
